Creative Clips: Christmas Edition

Welcome to clipping season, everybody! If you haven’t already been subjected to the necessary evil of spending a few hours inhaling hair and wearing ridiculous outfits while slowly numbing your whole arm with a buzzing electrical device, your time is coming soon. Faithful readers, you have responded to my plea to show me your wild and wonderful clip jobs from this winter in style! I’ve had quite a few entries, but we can always use more. Would you like to see your horse’s bum on the main page of EN? Tip me at [email protected]! Please include an excellent picture of your artistry, along with a short blurb and your name.

This week we’ve got clip jobs from all around the nation, and boy are people getting creative! I’ve never seen such skill with a pair of blades before!

“I body clipped Miss Prissy Pants Dressage Princess, Maddie, a few weeks ago. I decided not to go the boring route this year. I have an awesome pair of cordless Wahl clippers that make my life easier and use a corded pair of Osters too. I have no idea how long the whole process took but I do know that I had shark tooth-like pieces of horse hair in crevices of my body I did not know existed. Hope you enjoy!”

“This is my mare Lilly’s clip job. I’ve always had fun clipping designs into my horses (I’ve done batman logos, a shark, and the superman symbol) but this year I wanted to do something a little less goofy and a little more classy and professional so I found this celtic heart/knot design online and thought it would be fun to try!”

—— Lauren Sherrill, Louisville KY

“My 23-year-old TB is still hoping to hunt this winter so I thought we should go in style. I chose to use my personal logo which I put on everything that will stay still long enough, including storage bins and a custom cooler I made. When I got Traveler he was 11 and had to be sedated to even have a whisker trim. I clipped him without any help or drugs this year while he grazed in the sun. That’s progress!”

“This is a photo of my horse Ace’s bum. I’m very lucky to have a husband who supports my horsey habit in a military lifestyle, so in an effort to make him feel involved, I clipped his alma mater’s varsity letter onto Ace!”
