Friday News & Notes from World Equestrian Brands

Nothing like some good post dressage pony love. Photo by JJ Sillman

I say this every year, but I’ve still never been to Bromont. Honesty at this point it just sounds like the weather would be a welcome relief from June in Virginia, not to mention the ridiculously pretty views and the apparently awesome cross country courses. I *almost* went one year and was thwarted by an abscess, so I’m waiting for my next big horse to earn the privilege of the long drive. NO PRESSURE, Turkey.

News From Around the Globe:

Balancing riding at the Advanced level with a full time nursing job? No problem for Caitlin Henderson, who is competing in the CCI4*-L this weekend at Bromont with her OTTB Creative Dreamer. Based in Michingan, Caitlin trains with her mother Cathy who runs Henderson Equestrian Services in Pinckney. She credits a lot of her focus on training her horse with her experiences with intercollegiate soccer, and balances her work life efficiently to do the best job she can. What to do with the horse you can’t sell: keep it and kick butt! Samantha Erwin met her mare Adora four years ago, and was unsuccessful at selling her due to her penchant for bucking and refusing to jump when clients came to try her. Samantha lives in North Carolina and is a postdoctoral research scholar at North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where her focus is on antibiotic resistance. She is also now winning at the Preliminary level with the mare that was un-sellable! [Horses Are Always Worth The Effort]

Going to a competition this weekend? Nevermind the actual event, you gotta prepare for Monday too! Yes your horse needs to rest and recuperate, but you do too! Luckily Horse Nation compiled a list of must-do recovery activities to rejuvenate you after a weekend of hard work. [5 Post Horse Show Rituals You Need]
