It’s a wonderful thing to marvel at upper-level horses in competition, yes, but events are also a great way to get to know local businesses and organizations. If you’re attending Jersey Fresh International this weekend be sure to stop by the trade fair pavilion and visit Team Velvet, Inc.
Founded by psychologist Dr. Susan Edwards, Team Velvet is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization which provides equine therapy for children who have experienced trauma. You can learn more about their star equine ambassador, Velvet, for whom the organization was named, here in The American Trakehner magazine. The organization is also currently searching for a permanent farm home out of which to base their program.
