Spotlight On: Excellent Clipping Jobs

Welcome to clipping season, everybody! If you haven’t already been subjected to the necessary evil of spending a few hours inhaling hair and wearing ridiculous outfits while slowly numbing your whole arm with a buzzing electrical device, your time is coming soon. I’m not a person who really minds clipping much, and mostly because of my obsessive tendencies I find it gratifying in the same way that coloring books are for young children. A good clip job cannot be denied as a wonderful thing, and the artistry associated with it brings a little bit of pride out in me.

Our friends over at Horse Nation recently did a post about 10 really cool clip jobs , and while not all of us have that kind of skill or time on our hands, we still sometimes like to get creative with the fur shaving. Last year we had a series on reader-submitted clip jobs that were awesome in varied ways, and I’m bringing it back for 2012. Send me your photos, and get creative Eventing Nation!

Today’s photo was submitted to us from Jacque Flusche in Texas, who clipped a little Texas pride into her horse’s behind.

“Being a lifelong Texan, we are (overly) proud of our state, so with a little help from an empty case of beer – both for the cardboard and the inspiration – I shaved the state into her rump.  It looks like she’s wet because she just got a cold shower. It was 84 today (a new record), and all of our horses are sweating their dear, hairy rumps off. Along with us. Bleh!”
