The Hitchcock Woods Celebrates Eventing

The Hitchcock Woods

If you’ve ever been to Aiken, chances are you’ve been to The Hitchcock Woods. If you haven’t, call me up and I’ll give you a tour royale. I always used The Woods to enhance my fitness programs, especially for the big horse. Riders often complain about the disadvantageous flatness of South Carolina, but that is simply because they haven’t discovered the hills in The Woods. I found (with the help of a friend) a wonderfully perfect mile long gallop on a steady incline, and haven’t looked back since then. There are 2,100 acres of trails and jumps on perfect footing. Two thousand, one hundred acres! I take my young horses there for cross country schooling, and take advantage of the steeplechase obstacles for the more advanced horses to get their rhythm going for the season.

Now that I’ve thoroughly convinced you of the awesomeness of The Hitchcock Woods, I’ve got one more thing to add. If you are in Aiken this year, and a lot of us are,  you should consider participating in the celebration of Eventing and Eventers that is coming up next week. The Hitchcock Woods Foundation is hosting a fundraising party just for Eventers, and if by only that merit, it’s guaranteed to be a good time. The party will be next Monday, the 18th at the Willcox starting at 6pm. RSVP’s are required by Thursday (Valentines Day out there for all you lovebirds), and is sponsored by many of the supporters of our sport that we know and love, such as Jim & Sarah Wildasin and Ronald & Densey Juvonen.

As a bonus, there will be a silent auction filled with wonderful things such as various therapies for your spoiled horses, cross country schooling tickets, training and lesson certificates from many varied professionals and much more. I’m all about the silent auction, I like to sneak in at the last minute and steal things out from under unsuspecting noses.

If you are interested in attending the party, please contact me at [email protected] and I will hook you up! Also, if you need a tour of The Woods, I’m your girl.

(I posted this a few weeks ago, but it’s just too much fun not to share again)
