Thursday Video from Jamco: The Hitchcock Woods

If you’ve been to Aiken, chances are you’ve been to the Hitchcock Woods. If you haven’t…..what are you waiting for!? It’s an amazing place to take your horse, or even just to walk through. The Woods is about 2,100 acres of forest, trails, jumps and even an old fashioned arena. There is a mile gallop with varied sizes of hurdle style jumps, and logs throughout the land for all sorts of levels of jumping. There are ove 70 miles of trails, with perfect sand footing and signs to point you in the right direction.

While the barn I’m staying at for the winter is lovely in a lot of ways, and fits my needs for the most part, it doesn’t have the access to land that I need to keep my upper level horse fit. As a warmblood, he requires a little extra work in that department, and I like to incorporate as many hills as I can with him for his hind end strength. So, with the woods little more than 15 minutes away, I hopped in my trailer to explore for a morning. Since I got a helmet camera for Christmas, I’m obviously still obsessed, but I also thought it would be nice to have a miniature tour of The Woods via horse. Enjoy!
