This Sunday has been anything but lazy from the looks of the live scores! The eventer version of Sunday Funday clearly involves a day spent at a horse show or at least on the back of a horse somewhere, and we applaud your efforts. Here’s a quick look at the scores and a few social media posts from around Eventing Nation this weekend. Do you have some photos or videos that you’d like to share? Send them to [email protected].
Martha McDowell pulled out a clutch win in the Intermediate/Preliminary division at Colorado Horse Park, bringing Nabouco de Lessay home double clear on cross country today. Overnight leader James Atkinson and Man On the Moon III came home clear with some time, which was good for second place on the weekend. The cross country course appears to have ridden well, with all riders except for Martha coming home with a few time but clear otherwise.
Werner Geven pulled off a 1-2 finish after sitting in first and third in the Open Prelim at Poplar Place. Werner had the only double clear round of the day in show jumping with Kid Kaline, who was in third after cross country, to finish first. Werner’s second ride, Grey Prince, had just one rail to drop from first to second.
IEA also wrapped up in Iowa today, and Irene Lampton came from second to take the win in the Intermediate-Preliminary. It was a tough show jump track, with at least one rail falling for each competitor. Irene and Daisy added two rails to their weekend score to finish on a 56.8.
Laine Ashker’s newest mount, Flagmount’s Spartan, made his recognized debut at Waredaca this weekend, scoring a 26 in dressage and finishing second overall in the Novice Horse division. Champion racehorse turned eventer, Icabad Crane, also competing in the Novice Horse with Phillip Dutton’s assistant, Waylon Roberts, finishing on his dressage score in 8th place.
