Weekend Winners: GMHA, Genesee Valley, Waredaca, NJ Region, IEA, Archer

Lots happening out in the Eventing Nation over the weekend! Here’s a roundup of what went down:

  • Welcome to the USEA calendar, New Jersey Region’s Horse Trials! On Sunday New Jersey Region Pony Clubs celebrated both its first USEA Recognized Horse Trials and 64 years of Pony Club in the region. The inaugural event, held at The Horse Park of New Jersey, featured Beginner Novice, Novice, Training and Modified horse trials divisions. Beginner friendly Pre-Starter and Starter levels were also offered via a Fun Day on Saturday. By all accounts the event was a hit and we look forward to many more successful years! [New Jersey Region Pony Clubs]
  • Waredaca H.T. in Maryland was forced to cancel its Sunday schedule, unfortunately for the Novice and Training divisions. In consideration, they will roll over Sunday entries to their June 9th starter event, or a $100 voucher towards any 2018 Waredaca activity. Waredaca organizer Gretchen Butts said in a statement: “Making this decision is never easy but the well being of the horses, riders and our volunteers staffing the event is always foremost in our minds. We thank everyone for their understanding.” [Waradaca]

Storm is approaching. Gradient Sky! #waredaca #storm #darksky #mothernature

What the hail, Waradaca! And these clouds are more than a little ominous.

  • Genesee Valley Riding & Driving Club Spring H.T. braved some less-than-ideal conditions, too! No blue ribbons for you this weekend, weather.

It takes a village (of umbrellas!) to put on a springtime horse show! #springshowers

  • Congrats to Kylie Lyman and Xuanatu, who posted the lowest finishing score in the country this weekend! They won a division of Open Training at GMHA June H.T. on a score of 21.2. Kylie won the other division of Open Training as well on Glynnwood Mer Calido.

And it’s a wrap! A long, exhausting but fantastic weekend up at #theeventatarcher! All the beasties were fabulous. We all got some wonderful helpful feedback and have some things to keep working on but overall we had a great time. Tempo and Mira looked pretty good with those ribbons on their @blackjakrefinery bridles today ???? blue declined his photo op- those ribbons are quite terrifying he says. A HUGE thank you to the volunteers, the judges, the Ground Jury and of course the committee that put on this fabulous event for all of us! #eventer #areaixeventing #blackjakrefinery #teamspikebrowband #intheribbons #proudtrainer #barnminions #connemarapony #connemarasdoitall #showjumping #candiansporthorse #draftcross #appendixhorse #newsongsrainingmiracle #vivacetempo @newsongsrainingmiracle @meta1010 @ekf26
