Weekly OTTB Wishlist Presented by Cosequin

OTTBs are among the most prominently represented breed in the eventing world. Each day, hundreds of ex-racehorses find themselves at the end of their racing career and in need of a new home. Luckily, organizations such as CANTER, New Vocations, Recycled Racehorses, and many more are always on alert for new horses that are ready for second careers. Each week, we'll be bringing you a few OTTB ads that caught our eye. Keep an eye out here for your next eventing superstar!

We’ve been thrilled to share our first OTTB Wishlist success story over on Bloggers Row, and David Taylor has kindly agreed to continue blogging about Dancing Ruth so we can follow along with her progress. We hope more success stories emerge from these weekly OTTB listings. Don’t forget to share your success with us if you choose to adopt a horse listed here!

First up this week is a sturdy 15.3-hand gelding by the name of Uptown Ball (Park Avenue BallScobey Girl, by Lil Fappi). Uptown Ball raced 29 times, with his last race on Sept. 26 of this year.

This adorable guy has been deemed sound for his next career and will be generously priced from Recycled Racehorses for the next few days. Be sure to visit their website to find out more and fill out an application.

Next up this week is Mar Bravo, a 2008 gelding with a great personality who is looking for a new career through CANTER Ohio. Mar Bravo (MarcianoJazz Gal, by Lord Avie) raced 34 times and earned a total of $15,571. He last raced at the end of August.

Mar Bravo did have a bruised foot at the time of the video and has been said to have some stiffness in his back, which he easily works out of. Some downtime and perhaps a massage would do this handsome guy some wonders!

Our final horse this week is a handsome gelding from New Vocations. Conversationalist (Unbridled’s SongLacadena, by Fasliyev) is a 2010 model who raced four times. He’s been off the track for nearly two years now and is ready to start his new career.

Conversationalist will be best suited for flatwork and low level (2’6″-2′-9″) jumping; this guy is just begging to take someone around the lower levels!

Don’t forget, New Vocations’ adoptions fees are slashed for the month of December, so don’t miss your chance to score a really great horse for a bargain price.
