An Indoor Derby was held at Jumping International de Bordeaux, which is playing host to major events such as Longines FEI World Cup Jumping and an FEI World Cup Driving Final this weekend. The Devoucoux Indoor Derby was held yesterday, and it was French rider Karim Florent Laghouag and Pegase du Tuc, a 12-year-old Anglo-Arab mare, who took clinched the win on home turf.
The field was mainly French, although Jock Paget, Tim Lips, and Stella Benatti were also slated to compete. The competitor list was determined based on invitations by the committee organization for the competition, and the riders were competing for prize money totaling 15,000€.
Invitation criteria was set to require that horses invited had previously placed in a CCI2* or CIC2*, ensuring an even playing field for the invitees. Pierre Michelet was the designer for the course — that explains all of the skinny fences!
