How does a storied cross country course like Defender Kentucky’s come to life every year? Not only is the design (and, importantly, the implementation/execution of said design) a vital stage, conducted by in-house designer Derek di Grazia, but the building and moving fences is also a process that must begin early.

In the video above, you’ll hear from Chief Cross Country Course Builder Mick Costello about what key stages are underway for this year’s Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event, which will take place April 23-26 at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.

Here’s a story you don’t hear every day!

After seven months lost in the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming, a special horse named Mouse is home safe and sound. It’s a fairly insane story that’s summarized quite well over on our sister site, Horse Nation, but the short version is: after getting loose and high-tailing it into the mountains last July, Mouse could not be found. Soon enough, winter weather prevented any further searching, and, well, there are only so many endings to a story like this — especially in such remote back country.

On January 18, a passing snowmobiler saw the lone horse, who was in poor shape and had no way of being led to safety due to massive snow drifts. So, thanks to the efforts of many, transportation was devised in true improv fashion, and Mouse was only happy to oblige.

Watch a crazy video from the rescue here.

In a world where there’s a lot to stress about on most days, this story is just the tonic we needed to kick off the weekend.

The Equilibrium Stretch-N-Flex boots are some tried-and-true favorites over here at EN, providing light protection and support for your horse’s legs, integrating years of research and expert craftsmanship, ensuring a perfect layered fit that keeps your horse’s legs cool while providing essential protection. Pro tip: these are also great boots for harder-to-fit horses, as there are five sizes available, and the material allows for, well, literal stretching to fit better.

You can shop for your set of Stretch-N-Flex on World Equestrian Brands here.

One Big Thing: New USEA Online Tools and Member Portal

If you haven’t logged on to your USEA account lately, now may be the time! XEntry and the old USEA member portal have stepped aside to make way for HorseConnect, the new USEA Sport Management System platform.

About HorseConnect

The new member portal intends to modernize all aspects of your membership, horse registrations, and event entries. The USEA has put together some guides to help you navigate the new user experience of HorseConnect, including how to set up your account and how to register a new horse, with more tools to come soon.

Competition records for the last 24 months can still be found on the USEventing.com homepage under “Search Horse” and “Search Ride”, but as the HorseConnect system integrates, you’ll still need to navigate to the old USEA Online Services portal for records older than 24 months.

XEntry is no longer available to submit entries — all entries going forward will be submitted through HorseConnect.

For questions about the new system or any assistance with accessing your information or account, the USEA urges you to reach out to [email protected] or any other appropriate staff member. [You can find staff contact info listed at the bottom of this article]

One Big Thing: Ride iQ’s Equestrian Mastermind Season 3 is out now

EN’s good friend and sponsor Natalie Hummel guides Ride iQ’s Equestrian Mastermind podcast, and Season 3’s first episode has dropped now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Episode 1 features Natalie’s conversation with world-class riders Phillip Dutton, Tik Maynard, Will Coleman, and Michael Pollard.

Highlights from the Episode:

  • Natalie plays a clip for the riders she uses in her sports psychology consultations that asks a question of “Why Do I Do This?”: What is that deeper purpose that continues to drive you to the sport, regardless of your losses and struggles? Each rider gives a response to their own personal journeys with winning, losing, and their deeper purpose, with a benefit to the audience of the variety of perspectives from 5* winners to riders who have since left the 5* spotlight.
  • The panel-type conversation centers around four questions Natalie asks to each rider:
    • Throughout your career, when have you felt a lack of fulfillment or a disconnection, and what felt most familiar to you?
    • Did you ever get a win that you thought would change your life, but it didn’t?
    • If you set aside all the external pressure to win, what would still pull you forward to competition?
    • What do you do to reconnect when you notice yourself losing your sense of clarity?

Phillip, Tik, Will, and Michael all provide expert insight on mindsets, balancing family life, motivations, and purpose as competitors and horsemen. Listen in and bookmark Equestrian Mastermind so you catch the upcoming episodes!

A big shift is coming to the Carolina Horse Park for the 2026 Setters’ Run Farm Carolina International CCI4*-S and Horse Trials (March 19-22 – Raeford, NC)! We’ll see a location change for the FEI show jumping phase of competition, now taking place on the grass field area on the same side of Montrose Road as the dressage arenas. Until now, the FEI divisions have jumped in the Twin Gates Derby Field across the road, which also hosted the Carolina Club hospitality tent. This location was fabulous in its own right, but now the jumping will be located right in the main hub of the event. The Carolina Club will shift over as well, creating prime viewing for both dressage and show jumping, while cross country will continue to be held on the opposite side of Montrose. We also can’t help but think of the newly-opened cross country possibilities for Carolina International designer Derek di Grazia.

With the location shift, spectators and competitors, grooms, volunteers, officials, media and more will have a more concentrated area with easier access to vendors and stabling. Carolina International always boasts a strong trade fair and food court, as well as family- and kid-friendly activities throughout the weekend.

Carolina Club tickets are currently on sale, and entries for the Setters’ Run Farm Carolina International open on February 3. The event offers Novice through Advanced National divisions as well as CCI1*-S through CCI4*-S competition. The 4*-S is a US Equestrian Open qualifier as well as a key Defender Kentucky or MARS Badminton prep. You can view the Omnibus listing here.

Friday News & Notes from Stable View

One Big Thing: Cassie Sanger presented with 2026 Lionel Guerrand-Hermès Trophy at USET Benefit Gala

Cassie Sanger and Redfield Fyre. Photo by Sally Spickard.

Newly-debuted 5* rider and 2026 USEF Eventing Development Program member Cassie Sanger was presented with the 2026 Lionel Guerrand-Hermès Trophy at the US Equestrian Team Foundation’s “Aachen” benefit gala on January 16, 2026. The award is presented annually to a junior or young rider in an Olympic discipline who exemplifies the US Team’s ideals of sportsmanship and horsemanship.

Cassie is the first eventer to win the Lionel Guerrand-Hermès Trophy since 2011, when it was presented to Tiana Coudray, and has previously been honored by the USET Foundation when awarded the 2023 Karen E. Stives Endowment Fund Grant, which allowed her to participate in that year’s US Eventing European Development tour on Fernhill Zoro.

“The USET Foundation has been a huge part of my recent success,” Cassie stated. “My first trip overseas… was huge for me. I was able to put [the Karen E. Stives Endowment Fund Grant] toward the experience of going abroad, and that lit a fire in me for what I want to do. It would not have been possible without the support. I am so grateful for the way they want to show up for riders and horses.”

What’s next for Cassie?

During a stellar 2025 season — which included top-20 finishes at both Kentucky and Burghley — 21 year-old Cassie made a huge decision to move her entire string of horses to England, where she now bases with Olympic gold medalist Ros Canter. Cassie’s new home provides her with great proximity to some of the best instruction in the world, with only more team and competition opportunities to come — including her placement as one of three riders chosen for the 2026 USEF Eventing Development Program. Cassie and her top horse Redfield Fyre will join Mia Farley and Jenny Caras as they challenge the Bicton CCIO4*-NC-S this May.

In 2026, Sanger plans to apply again to the US Eventing European Development Tour with Fernhill Zoro. Her England-based season plans include a Badminton Horse Trials debut for Redfield Fyre as well as the Young Horse Championships at Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials for her up-and-coming horses. She also hopes to contest the Under-25 Eventing World Championship, a new competition, taking place at Millstreet International Horse Trials in Ireland in July 2026.

More about the USET Foundation’s “Aachen” Benefit Gala

The “Aachen” benefit gala on January 16th raised nearly $1.2 million in support of US equestrian sport ahead of the 2026 FEI World Championships, which this year will be held at the revered equestrian venue in Aachen, Germany. The gala featured a live auction, where everything from luxury retreats to World Championship hospitality packages to a 2024 Paris Olympic jump were put up to bid. Other awards were also presented at the gala, including the 2026 Whitney Stone Cup to US show jumper Lillie Keenan, which acknowledges her as “an active competitor whose consistent excellence in international competition and sportsmanlike conduct as an ambassador for the sport exemplify the USET Foundation’s and USEF’s highest ideals and traditions.”

With many members of the equestrian and philanthropic communities in attendance, the funds raised will not only enable the attendance of US athletes at the 2026 World Championships, but will also support the USEF High Performance Programs and Pathways and the athletes being developed to represent the United States.

“Sustaining competitive excellence at the highest levels of equestrian sport requires hard work, unwavering commitment, and meaningful resources,” said USET Foundation Chairman, President, and CEO Kristi Mitchem. “Unlike many other countries, the United States does not receive government funding for equestrian sport. Our teams rely largely on support from the USET Foundation and our dedicated donors. We are tremendously grateful for the generosity shown at this year’s benefit.”

Wednesday News & Notes

One Big Thing: Remembering Sandra McDonald

USEA/Meagan DeLisle photo.

At the 2022 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention, Sandra McDonald received a standing ovation from all in attendance as she received the USEA Ironmaster Trophy. This award is presented to a nominated individual in the eventing community that exemplifies fortitude and courage, and Sandra certainly did so above all else as she fought breast cancer while riding throughout her chemotherapy treatments.

On January 17th, a statement from Sandra’s husband, Ian, was shared across the eventing community on Facebook:

With a very heavy heart I am sharing that Sandra passed away this morning after a long and brave fight with cancer.

Sandra was known by so many and we are both so grateful for so many caring friends. She was fiercely proud and independent. Her horses and & dogs brought her the greatest joy. Her mother was one of her greatest supporters, always standing beside her with unwavering love and encouragement.

I want to thank everyone who shared in Sandra’s life – her friends, riding coaches, and her family who loved, laughed and cheered with her through the ups and downs. You meant more to her than you know. Her spirit lives on in the horses she loved and the friendships she built. She will be missed beyond words.

At this point there are no plans for visitation/memorial service.

With love and gratitude,

Ian

After a weekend of showing in 2019, Sandra’s diagnosis of aggressive Stage 4 breast cancer triggered a rallying of the eventing community as she prepared for a treatment journey — one that would consist of radical surgeries, chemotherapy, and 43 consecutive radiation treatments over the following year. The Aiken local’s one goal approaching treatment was to be able to ride in the Pine Top Thanksgiving Horse Trials later that year, competing in horse trials as she regained strength on up to four horses.

After a riding accident in 2022 leading to a broken leg, Sandra was shocked to learn that her cancer had metastasized, spreading to her spine and skeletal system. Despite being told that she would never ride again, Sandra told her oncologist, “Doc, if you take my horses away from me, I am not gonna make it through this,” and was back in the saddle six weeks later.

Several members of the local eventing community nominated Sandra for the Ironmaster Trophy back in 2022, writing: “We are nominating Sandra because she isn’t known in our area for being ‘that rider who has cancer’ — we are nominating her because she is known for her amazing wicked sense of humor, her determination to ride, and her outstanding courage.”

Sandra committed herself to eventing throughout the remaining years of her journey thanks to her endless resilience, the support of her community, and her soulmate Ian, of whom she said, “H e is the love of my life, and I wouldn’t have made it without him. I embraced my diagnosis as openly as I could and we both met it head-on, fighting with everything we could possibly fight with. Ultimately, it is going to get me, but it’ll get me when I have done everything that I have wanted to do and we have done everything that we have wanted to do as a couple.”

From the Eventing Community:

The world seems a little smaller and less bright today. My friend, Sandra McDonald left this earth after a long battle with cancer this weekend. Honestly, she was so tough and brave, I guess I deluded myself that this outcome was just not possible, so I’m still in shock.
I think the thing I most admired about Sandra was her bravery. Whether it was riding one of her giant, athletic horses on a fresh day or staring down cancer, she never flinched. She never complained, she never let anything get in the way of her passion for riding. She faced every thing head on like a steam train. When I get nervous or anxious, I often think “try to be like Sandra”.
I’m going to so miss our long phone calls. I had hoped to finally spend time with her in Florida this winter. I guess a weird blessing is I saw her a lot when my brother was hospitalized because she was there too. I would bounce between them picking her up a Starbucks along the long walk between the ICU and the cancer floor. You would never guess how sick she was because she was always cheerful and concerned about MY problems instead of talking about hers. But that was Sandra. Always a supportive friend and always your best cheerleader. Always worried about everyone else more than herself.
Being an animal lover, many beloved pets and horses went before her. I hope she is reunited with all of them in a healthy body that doesn’t hold her back. Love you Sandra. Thanks for being my friend.
– Merance Adams

Saddened to learn today of Sandra McDonalds passing after her long battle with cancer. It’s been a long road, that you met with smiles and grit– but now you get to kick on and have some of the best rides ever. I will miss chatting with you around and about…. and of course, seeing you gallop through my lens. Aiken lost a good one, so very sorry Ian Mcdonald.
– Chris O’Hagen Quinn

I will never forget being in that room as Sandra McDonald won the Ironmaster Trophy. A room full of people touched by Sandra’s courages efforts as she battled that terrible disease and the tears that streamed down Sandra’s face. She fought every day with a smile on her face. She was always one of my biggest cheerleaders and I’ll miss her hugs and her high fives. But more than that I’ll miss the spirit she had, the kindness she gave, and the fight she gave every single day.
Sandra I hope you’re finally free from that terrible disease, watching down knowing the eventing world is a lot more dim because you left us. Rest easy, my friend. 💔
– Chris Talley

One Big Thing: 19-year-old TB wins award for bringing five young riders through all levels of the sport

Marquet Rise, a 19-year-old chestnut Thoroughbred mare owned by Bobbie Mudge of Vermont, becomes the inaugural recipient of Area I’s Orange Pippin Jumpstart Award. Known as “Mazzie”, this special mare’s five young riders have gained education and a love for the sport from partnering with her at levels from Beginner Novice through Intermediate/CCI3*.

Testimonials from Mazzie’s riders:

Campbell Jourdian, now a professional rider and groom, rode Mazzie through Preliminary as a teenager and states that “Mazzie is game and full of heart… she teaches bravery and every ride puts a smile on your face.”

Sophie Tullar, now an FEI groom, rode Mazzie to their first CCI2*S and says that “not only did she teach me so much in my riding but she also made me fall in love with the sport.”

Cassie Wallskog Council, now a professional rider, trainer, and coach, competed with Mazzie to the CCI3*S level and is “grateful to have had the opportunity to ride such a talented and influential horse early in my career.”

Area 1 Young Rider Chenoweth Donohue describes Mazzie as “a kind, steady, and dependable horse who only made me improve. The mare is a patient teacher of a horse and a quiet, confident guide.”

Mazzie’s current charge, the owner’s 12-year-old grandson Thayer Mudge, says that “Mazzie is the most courageous horse that I have ever met… Some horses teach us how to ride or jump, Mazzie does that but she also teaches me how to enjoy the ride.”

Who does this award honor?

The award is to be given annually to a special horse who, over the course of their career, has sparked a love for eventing to multiple riders new to the sport. The award is given in memory of Orange Pippin, an incredibly special chestnut Thoroughbred mare who was an early mount for five different Area 1 young riders during her 11-year career, introducing them to the joys and challenges of eventing and inspiring them all to remain lifelong horse people.

The award panel comprised of “Pippin’s people” believe that Mazzie shares Pippin’s attributes of “a love for cross country and an ability to teach young riders” while being a safe and confidence boosting partner. Just like Pippin, she has a “natural eye for taking jumps” but is equally happy to rule over the farm and “hack out with riders aged 2 to 82.” Through her riders, Mazzie’s impact can be felt on the sport of eventing far outside of her inner circle, and has brought a love of the sport and the horse to the next generation of riders.

Learn more about this Area I award and how to nominate a recipient here.

Monday News & Notes

One Big Thing: MARS Badminton takes a top honor

Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo. Photo by Cealy Tetley.

MARS Badminton just became the richest prize at the CCI5* level of eventing, taking the title from Defender Burghley for now with news that the overall prize fund will increase by nearly £50,000 to £451,500. £125,000 of that fund will be disbursed to the winner this year, up from £117,500 in 2025.

Defender Burghley has not announced any changes to its prize money for 2026 (yet), so this top honor could change as the year progresses, but for now nearly $2.3M USD is now on offer at the CCI5* level globally. The two English 5* events lead the way with just over $600,000 USD for MARS Badminton and just over $500,000 (£375,250) at Defender Burghley. Defender Kentucky is the third-highest prize with $400,000 on offer in the flagship 5*, followed by MARS Maryland 5 Star which came in at $325,000 for the 5*. Longines Luhmühlen (Germany) and Les 5 Etoiles de Pau (France) both offer €150,000 (roughly $173,000), and the Adelaide Equestrian Festival 5* offers about A$150,000 (about $100,000 USD) for its April event.

Why this matters: As Harry Meade put it on an episode of The Go Eventing Podcast, prize money isn’t necessarily the end all, be all goal for every rider — but let’s be honest, of course it helps to have a big fund to compete for on the world stage. With the addition of another $200,000 total prize fund for the US Equestrian Open series and Final — which is on the calendar through at least 2027 — prize money is slowly growing at the biggest events in the world.

Many happy returns to Boyd Martin, who kept the party rolling from a big year in 2025 by taking home the honor of US Equestrian International Equestrian of the Year. The awards were handed out at a reception during the USEF Annual Meeting in Lousville, KY on January 15.

Here’s a look at some of what netted Boyd the honor:

A stalwart for the Defender U.S. Eventing Team, Boyd Martin concluded another strong and consistent campaign in 2025, earning top five finishes in 24 FEI events with a string of 13 different horses. Martin finished all three of his entries inside the top ten at the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI5*-L, including a second-place finish aboard Commando 3, to earn the USEF CCI5*-L National Championship. The pair returned with the same form later in the year to notch a third-place finish in the MARS Maryland Five Star CCI5*-L. Martin then took his talents overseas to finish third in the Pau CCI5*-L, this time aboard Cooley Nutcracker, demonstrating incredible consistency and poise at the top international events in the world. Martin also topped the inaugural US Equestrian Eventing Open Final aboard Miks Master C, at Morven Park, marking his seventh international win of the season.

In team competition representing the Defender U.S. Eventing Team, Martin and Commando 3 finished fifth overall and helped the team notch their third consecutive podium finish in the CHIO Aachen CCIO4*-S. Martin currently sits in second in the FEI Eventing World Rankings, having accumulated 537 points in 2025. He sat atop the world rankings in the month of May, marking the first time in nearly two decades a U.S. eventing athlete was ranked number one in the world.

“There were many, many lows and some unbelievable highs,” Boyd said of his equestrian career thus far, “In 2010, I was faced with one of the hardest decisions of my life and it was to change my nationality to represent America. I soon realized when I got to America that this is my home. I also wanted to support the country that was supporting my career. I also felt it was wrong for the owners that had poured so much sup into me, being a rider with a different flag. It was the greatest decision I ever made.”

You can watch Boyd’s full acceptance speech in the video embedded below or on Facebook directly here.

Friday News & Notes from Stable View

One Big Thing: Cross Country Course-Design Bursary to be Relaunched

The Bill Thomson Bursary, named after Defender Burghley Horse Trials’ founding cross-country course-designer and builder, is being relaunched. This bursary was first established following Bill Thomson’s death in 1993 to help new British Eventing course-designers, course-builders and officials learn their craft, and to ensure the progression of safety developments within the sport.

Who was Bill Thomson? Bill Thomson played a large part in establishing Burghley Horse Trials in 1961, spotting its great potential as a venue, and designed and built its famous cross-country from 1961-1983.

Adrian Ditcham, Assistant Course-Designer and course-builder at Burghley and course-designer at events such as Boekelo, Belsay and Wellington, said of the fund, “Bill Thomson was probably Britain’s first professional cross-country course-builder and course-designer, and it is highly appropriate that this fantastic bursary carries his name. Since Covid, the bursary has been in abeyance, and I am delighted that we are relaunching it. It is really important that we find our course-designers, course-builders and officials of the future; we don’t have enough of them and we need to discover them if we want the sport of eventing to stay strong.”

What will this Bursary do? As one of the first recipients of the Bill Thomson Bursary in 1993, Adrian will also head up a committee to manage the bursary alongside Burghley’s Event Director Martyn Johnson. He said of the relaunch, “This is a great opportunity for both current designers and builders and people who might not yet have thought about those career paths to access funding to gain experience and work with top designers and builders to hone their skills.”

Training with Burghley’s long-serving Clerk of the Course, Philip Herbert, led to the 30-year involvement Adrian has enjoyed with Burghley, and sparked a successful and enduring career within the industry. Other recipients include Alec Lochore – course-designer for the 2028 LA Olympics – Hugh Lochore, David Evans, Eric Winter and Jonathan Clissold and, more recently, Andrew Heffernan, Guy Herbert, Lucy McCarthy, Lloyd Hunt, and Helen West.

The Bill Thomson Bursary will concentrate on two areas:

  • The awarding of financial bursaries to candidates to assist them in their training and development in their respective roles
  • Facilitating role-specific training at subsidised rates through the bursary.

One Big Thing: Area VII Eventing Trainer selected to ride in 2026 Gaucho Derby in Argentina

Ashleigh Rauen at the Spokane Sport Horse 11th Annual Fall HT. Photo from Spokane Sport Horse Farm.

Hailing from the small island town of Vashon-Mary in Washington, Area VII trainer Ashleigh Rauen of Ride in the Rain LLC is preparing for the ride of her life — one that will take her 500 kilometers through the wilderness of Patagonia, Argentina. The terrain she’ll race across in the 2026 Gaucho Derby will cover nearly every ecosystem, from fjords and glaciers to rainforests to deserts, with only a map and Garmin watch to guide her and the horses she’ll be paired with. While a less wilderness-inclined rider like you and I may see the words “Gaucho Derby” or “500 kilometers” and think “no, thank you”, Ashleigh sees this adventure as a chance to explore her three most treasured passions: horses, nature, and culture.

Outside of her riding, training, and sales horse business, Ashleigh has been counting down her Days to Derby as she prepares for this massive undertaking. With her South American departure coming up in a short 28 days, she has been spending her time packing and weighing and repacking her saddle bags, practicing assembling and disassembling her tent, bareback riding, foxhunting, practicing Spanish, taking Wilderness Navigation classes, and putting in hours at the gym and on hiking trails when time allows. Wishing her and her ponies smooth rides and dry socks as they embark!

We might not always know the ins and outs of every ingredient in our horse’s supplements — and that’s okay! KPP is here to explain just what specific ingredients in their supplements mean, and why they’ve chosen to include them in their science-backed, evidence-based formulas.

How does Trouble Free™ Powder and Paste keep my horse calm and collected?

Trouble Free™ is scientifically formulated to support healthy nervous system function and help your horse maintain a more confident, focused, and relaxed disposition. The five main components of this formula address different aspects of maintaining a relaxed attitude, addressing potential deficiencies you might be completely unaware of to support normal stress levels, address nervous disorders, maintain proper nerve transmission, increase serotonin, and maintain a calm demeanor. All of these work together to make that perfect blend of calm and focus that you need in your competitive partner.

Monday News & Notes

One Big Thing: The U25 Eventing World Championships

USEF Eventing Development 25 rider Meg Pellegrini and Falcon Crown Z. Photo by Shannon Brinkman Photography.

Who will officiate eventing’s newest World Championship this summer? A panel of experienced Ground Jury members has been appointed, but first:

What is the FEI U25 Eventing World Championship? This is a brand-new, annual Championship intended to be a bridge between Young/Junior Riders Championships and the Senior World or European Championships (and the Olympics, of course). The powers that be went back and forth a bit on the exact format and level of the event, but one consideration was the current FEI European Young Riders (and the U.S. equivalent Young Rider Championships), which are held at the CCI3*-L level and the Senior Championships, which are held at the CCI4*-L level. Notable here: we’re primarily referring to World and European Championships when we say “Senior Championship”. There are, of course, many other Championship-caliber competitions around the world, but many are held at the U.S. National Advanced or FEI 3* level or below.

From that, the emergence of this Championship at the CCI4*-S level emerged. This year, the U25 Worlds will be held at Millstreet (Ireland) July 22-26. In 2027, the timeline will shift to be later in the year, September 8-12 at Cornbury House International in the UK. Presumably, this year’s World Championships in August precipitated the July dates for the U25s.

Who will officiate the U25 World Championship? The panel of officials has been appointed, and we’ll see Ireland’s own James Rooney as President of the Ground Jury, assisted by the USA’s Robyn Fisher and Great Britain’s Angela Tucker. Australia’s Hunter Doughty will be the Technical Delegate. Cross country will be designed by Millstreet’s longtime designer Mike Etherington-Smith (GBR), assisted by Paul Brady (IRL), while show jumping will be handled by James Tarrant (IRL).

You can bookmark the FEI’s information hub for the U25 World Championships here. US Equestrian has confirmed it will be targeting this Championship, and fittingly Eventing Development Training sessions hosted by USEF got underway in Florida this past week.

Have questions? Email [email protected]. If you want to purchase your listing, click here.

You may also see some links from our sponsors and partners in this section, but they’ll always be labeled as sponsored if applicable. We’ll also use this section to highlight new products or big sales that come up on our feed.

Training Tip of the Day

Not so much a “training” tip as a “good-to-know” for you today, coming your way from Ride iQ all about Farm Safety 101:

Go Eventing

Kate Chadderton has represented Australia at multiple CCI5* and FEI competitions, but now she’s riding under a new flag: the USA’s! Congratulations!

Harry Meade leads the charge into 2026 still atop the FEI Eventing World Rankings, which should remain relatively unchanged until we get into the thick of the international season later this spring. US Equestrian Open champion Boyd Martin still represents the U.S. in good form, in #2 to start the year, while European Champion Laura Collett completes the top three standings.

You can view the full FEI Eventing World Rankings here.

Good morning! We hope you’ve been enjoying our refreshed News & Notes this week. We’ll be keeping our weekend Links on the shorter side as they have been, but we’ll be back with you on Monday with more in-depth news.

One thing of note, however, is the announcement last month of the World Class Grooming Career Development Grant, geared towards aspiring professional grooms who desire more educational opportunities and hands-on experience. The Grant was established by the Aiken Horse Park Foundation and will benefit from private donations as well as proceeds from the Aiken Equine Educational Series, presented by Shapley’s. You can find more information on the series here.

Applications have not yet been released, but you can keep an eye on World Class Grooming on social media for more details (and we’ll be sure to share them here when they’re available).

Sponsor Corner: World Equestrian Brands

Tack should not be a distraction. Finding the right fitting equipment is a top priority — an investment, to be sure — if nothing else for the comfort and welfare of your horse. Spoiler alert! It doesn’t always have to be the newest, most customized saddle in the world. Used or like new options do exist. You can find help fitting your horse with the right set-up from World Equestrian Brands, which employs a team of saddle fitters well-versed in solving the saddle puzzle. Get to know World Equestrian Brands more here.
