The View from the Tetons Presented by World Equestrian Brands

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today comes from one of my favorite places in the world: Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

From Teresa Craig:

This is a photo of Kathi Michel on Kazar, who lives in Jackson, Wyoming. She has just retired her 23 year old Trakener gelding from eventing – her last event was the Novice 3-day at Twin Rivers in April. She plans on taking him on many trail rides such as this one in the future.  She would be so honored if this photo could be posted on EN! Everybody in the west knows Kathi!

A huge THANK YOU to all of you dear readers who have been voting for our contests and helping us choose our winners!

We had a great time with this contest and thank you to all those who entered! A special thanks to all of our riders who were subjected to Samantha’s awkward moment photography, and allowed us to shamelessly caption your facial expressions.

——————

Kayla Muller: “Wait ’til Big Phil sees who’s doing his physical. Hehe”

——————

Natalie Johnson: Boyd:”Clayton, no matter how much you beg I’m not switching nationalities AGAIN.”

——————

Colleen: “Wait a minute…I’m seeing something…a Rolex timepiece? A premonition of things to come?”

——————

Devoucoux “Caption It” Contest

We received so many crazy good captions for the “Caption It” contest presented by Devoucoux, we definitely had to do a poll to figure out who the winners should be.

Here’s how we’re going to roll with it, under each photo, help us out and rate your favorite caption for that photo. Four winners will be chosen to win a signed Devoucoux shirt by the top rated caption for each photo so let the games begin!

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today’s view comes from the Cotswolds.

From Mary Delton, of Western NY:

Here I am on a hack in the Cotswolds before going on to Badminton. We rode through lots of sheep/lamb fields and had to open and close many gates. This is the view over Stanton and across the Severn Vale into Wales and after we got back to Stanton.

On to Badminton on Thursday in order to mark off the #1 item on my bucket list!

A quick reminder of what’s up for grabs: WEB has generously donated a full set of the NEW Equilibrium Airlite XC boots for the grand prize!

The Equilibrium Airlite XC boots are a favorite of many riders, both professional and amateur, who look not only for protection, but additional benefits for their horses.  The Equilibrium Airlite XC deliver not only protection from concussion and penetration, but they are extremely light, flexible, don’t hold water, and designed to help keep the legs from heating.  And, even some of the most sensitive horses don’t get rubs!

So help us choose the winner and select your favorite pooch of the 2013 World Equestrian Brands Top Dog Contest!

The View from Colorado Presented by World Equestrian Brands

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today’s mountainous view comes to us from Colorado.

From Jill Stranges:

This picture was taken after riding up a fairly steep and rocky butte that is only about a mile up the road from the farm where I board my horse in Larkspur, CO.
It is a view of Pikes Peak still covered with snow from all the spring storms we have been having lately here in colorful Colorado.
The ears in the picture belong to my horse Maverick who is more interested in trying to stop and eat the scrub oak bushes on the way to and from the top of the butte than the beautiful scenery.

Omega Alpha’s “Pick ‘Em” Winner

It’s hard to believe that the 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event has come and gone. Although I’m sure everyone is as bummed as I am that it’s over so quickly, we’ll keep the excitement going here on EN because that means it’s time to announce our contest winners!

I must say, it was heartwarming to see our dear readers have such faith that an American would walk home with a shiny new watch this year, alas some of you did predict the win would be awarded to another country.

And the winner of the Omega Alpha prize package is…………………………………………………………..

Gabby Dickerson!!!!!!!!
Gabby guessed that Andrew Nicholson would win on Quimbo with an overall score of 41.8 which was pretty darn close as his overall score was a 41.
So congrats Gabby! You will be taking away a prize package courtesy of Omega Alpha valued at over $150.
Thanks to everyone who guessed and until next year…. Go eventing.

“Snap That!” Contest Presented by Tipperary

Day two of dressage is upon us which also marks the fourth day of EN’s annual Rolex Kentucky Contest Week. I must say our generous EN sponsors have really been pulling out the big guns to award our readers with some really cool prizes, and the next sponsor will not disappoint!

For our next contest, we are going to ask you all to play EN photographer for a day. I mean… who doesn’t want to be a chinchilla?

But despite just getting to act like a super cute, fuzzy rodent we challenge you to snap some cross country photos of riders wearing the new Eventer Pro 3015! The following riders have opted to ride around Rolex Kentucky wearing the new vest: Jessica Phoenix, Robert Meyerhoff, Lindsay Oaks, Maddie Blackman, Kendal Lehari,  Lynn Symanski, Daniel Clasing, and Shandis McDonald.

So, tomorrow on cross country day, look out for these 9 riders and have your camera ready. Snap a picture of at least one of these riders while out on cross country and send it to [email protected] with “Snap That” as the title.

Tipperary will also be looking to use some photos taken by our readers for future promos and advertising campaigns so the pressure’s on to get some great shots! But iPhone quality will still be accepted to enter the contest :).

Submissions must be sent in to [email protected] by 8 a.m. Sunday morning and the winner will be randomly chosen to receive an Eventer Pro vest of their own! Please one submission per person.

The new Eventer Pro 3015 has an improved anatomical fit-mobility with patent pending EVOLUTION FOAMTM that conforms to each individual athletes body shape and size. The foams construction allows for air return circulation, cooling the body in high temperatures with specialized antibacterial agents that prevent the vest from odor build up. A new design pattern of double layer TECTONICTM foam plating moves and flexes with the rider without any separation or gapping. This plating works in conjunction with the LIVE SPINETMconstruction which provides increased impact protection while moving, flexing and mimicking the athletes movements. Vertical flex bars on the front and back of the vest provide a more customized fit along with a FLEX LACETM closure and torso cut that allows the vest to expand and contract with the athletes movements while offering easy quick fit adjustment with draw string and added side flap protection. Additional reflective piping is included in the vest for added safety and visibility for riders training on the road or in low light situations. Over all the look of the Eventer ProTM is esthetically pleasing, it combines functionality with comfort and complements the riders performance.

Top Dog Contest Presented by World Equestrian Brands

WORLD EQUESTRIAN BRANDS PRESENTS THE SECOND ANNUAL TOP DOG CONTEST!

WIN A SET OF THE AWESOME, NEW EQUILIBRIUM AIRLITE XC BOOTS!

It is a known fact that horse people have multiple types of four-legged friends. One of the most common family additions are of course, our beloved dogs. If you’re anything like me, your car will be packed to the brim with all your Rolex necessities, and there will be a perfectly cushioned space just for the dog.

So, since we know there will be plenty of furry, four-legged friends running around off the cross country course, here’s your task for this contest: send us your best 2013 Rolex Kentucky Dog Photo (doesn’t have to be your own pooch – if you need one… find a corgi named Finley he loves to pose, but any cute one will do!) to en.contest @gmail.com with “Top Dog” in the title. Photos must be submitted by Monday at midnight (EST), and please limit one photo entry per person.

We expect some great photos for this one! EN sponsor World Equestrian Brands has generously donated a full set of the NEW Equilibrium Airlite XC boots for the grand prize!

Don’t forget to visit World Equestrian Brands in the VTO Booth at Rolex Kentucky! If you’re bringing your dog, definitely make sure to stop by as WEB will have dog treats ready for your pooches!

The View from the Southwest Presented by World Equestrian Brands

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today’s views show those of us used to grass fields and woodland areas that different scenery exists while hacking out west.
From Heather Hibbetts:
In Albuquerque, NM, most of the riding stables are in “the Bosque”, which is the agricultural areas along the Rio Grande.  The Bosque runs straight through the middle of the city, so we don’t have wide-open trail riding access.  What we do have are endless miles of hacking trails along the irrigation ditch banks – there’s an endless system of these ditchbanks criss-crossing the whole valley, and they are closed off to motorized vehicles and have great sand footing for hacking and trot sets.  The ears here belong to my horse Bobby, who is way more interested in stopping to check out every neighbor’s yard along the ride than getting his trot set done.
From Rachael Walker (of Wisconsin)
This is a picture taken in the Paso Duro Canyon just outside Amarillo, TX. I coach a collegiate hunt seat team, and two of my girls qualified for the Zones competition at the beginning of April. We flew down a day early and, as part of our sight-seeing, took a guided trail ride in the Palo Duro Canyon in the morning. The ears in the photo are of my cute little mount, George (incidentally, also my husband’s name!). The Canyon is BEAUTIFUL, and seeing it on horseback was a highlight of the trip for all of us.

The View from MA Presented by World Equestrian Brands

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today’s view proves that you don’t necessarily have to ride to enjoy a great hack… however it is highly suggested you learn!

From Amelia Cutler:

Hi!

Out in Upton State Forest (MA), the ears are my horse, Queso, with Ashly on Paloma and Marissa the non-rider running. We like to involve our non-horse friends in our trail rides as well.

Amy
Way to not discriminate Amy! I’m all for exercise, don’t get me wrong, but I have four legs to do my running for me, so I’ll leave these hacks up to your ambitious friend!
Happy Friday – Go Eventing

The View from The Fork, Presented by World Equestrian Brands

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today’s view comes to you from The Fork. Enjoy EN!

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today’s view is one of those moments out riding when you just sometimes have to stop, and take in the beauty of your hobby.

From Jacqueline Rimmler:

My horse Goose and I enjoying the woods, last of the evening sun, still just a touch of spring. Lucky to have the trails at Wildwood Farm in Durham NC! Happy riding!!

Spring Views Presented by World Equestrian Brands

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today’s views welcome the spring season where hobby eventers (like myself) can FINALLY relax and enjoy a long ride after work instead of racing against the darkness. Yay for daylight savings!

From Leah Deffenbaugh:

Hello!

I thought I would share a view from the California Coast! This is a photo from out on a hack on Riley, my 6 year old Appy/TB cross. I snapped this photo as I rode through the hay fields at sunset in Half Moon Bay, CA. This photo illustrates why “Spring Forward” is my favorite holiday! It means I have time to get out for a hack after work, before the sun dips below the pacific. Yay for spring, and no longer being stuck in the ring!

——

From Diane Zrimsek:

Hi EN,

I took this picture during a hack at St. Mary’s River Park in Maryland. It was a beautiful evening, and with daylight saving time I can bolt out of work and make it around the 7.5 mile trail before dark.

Cheers,

Diane and Lincoln

A Couple of Views Presented by World Equestrian Brands

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. Today’s views are fun representations of hacking coast to coast… so I thought I would share both.

The View from Winter Wonderland Presented by World Equestrian Brands

If you happen to be out for a hack, are riding in some obscure place, or just take some cool photos aboard your mount, send them to [email protected] including a quick blurb about this photo’s story and write “The View” as the title. This week’s view is a nice reminder that while most of the eventing world has migrated south for the winter, some have toughed it out up north, and still manage some quality equestrian behavior.

From Laura Richard:

This is a picture I took while out hacking on the last day of February. Winter came into February like a lamb but went out like a lion here in Canada. I took this picture from the back of my 4 year old OTTB, Oliver, who was out with his buddies Tommy and Payton. Horses and humans all had a great time cantering through this winter wonderland in Uxbridge, Ontario.
