It is with great sadness that we report that Nicola Wilson’s longtime partner, Opposition Buzz, was euthanized yesterday at the age of 17 after suffering a seizure. Nicola posted the following statement on her Facebook page:
“Our beloved Dodi sadly passed away yesterday after several weeks of enjoying his well deserved retirement. He had a seizure in the morning and was put to sleep on veterinary advice. A shock to us all. A very special horse who will be missed beyond belief. He made so much possible and opened so many doors for me. Rest in peace Dodi and Thank You.”
“Dodi” was officially retired in September in an emotional ceremony at Allerton Park. Completing 11 CCI4* events throughout his career, he and Nicola represented Great Britain on the world stage at both the World Equestrian Games and the Olympics. He completed Burghley five times, and graced the U.S. with his presence in 2009 with a trip around Rolex Kentucky as well as in 2010 as a member of the British WEG team.
We are heartbroken for Nicola and all who knew and loved Dodi, and we extend our sincere condolences in this tragic time. Rest in peace, Dodi.
