***2 Star Horse For Sale***

Woodstock Easy is an 11 year old, 16.2 hand, TB, Gelding. He has competed successfully through the 2 star level and has scope to go higher! “Scooby” has beautiful movement and a super careful jump. He is quiet, soft, and uncomplicated to ride and has never had a cross-country fault.

Scooby has been owned and ridden by an amateur for many years and is suitable for any level rider. With his kind and easy demeanor on the ground, he is a barn favorite. Priced in the mid five figures. Located in Pennsylvania.

Gliding Class. Photo via Sport Horse Nation.

Uncomplicated Dream YR/AA Horse

Gliding Class is an uncomplicated dream for a young rider or adult amateur. Has successfully gone Intermediate but is also happy at the lower levels. This 11 year old 16.3 hand Irish gelding scores in the 20s on the flat and is a super clean jumper. Comfortable under saddle and easy on the ground! Priced at 65k. Located in California.

RHF Peterzano. Photo via Sport Horse Nation.

Upper Level Quality Mr. Perfect

RHF Peterzano. 2012, 16.1 Hanoverian Gelding. Sire: Perigueux – Dam Sire: Now or Never

Serious Inquiries Only! Priced accordingly for temperament, record, and quality. Rare opportunity to be offered on the market a young, top string horse.RHF Peterzano (aka Pepperoni) is a talented 8 yr old gelding with an outstanding temperament, and record to match.

He is only being offered to the right situation, and to help my husband and I secure our farm. Pepperoni has been in a professional program since being imported from Europe at the age of 4. He has been brought along with upper level potential in mind. He has won at every level he has competed at, with consistent scores from the low to mid twenties. He is extremely reliable in show jumping to jump clear or no more than one rail.
He only has had one cross country jump penalty throughout his Eventing career. He goes in all three phases in a snaffle.

He would also be an extremely competitive 1.30 show jumper and speed horse. He is extremely easy on the flat, and is incredibly safe in the jumping, and is not strong in the hand on cross country. He has been used for lessons off and on since the beginning, and is a real favorite to everyone who meets him. His personality is very charismatic and very sweet. He has the same good nature everyday, and loves his job. He is willing to gallop or trail ride in company, or on his own. You can even have a calm ride bareback and in a halter.

Easy to travel with, compete, shoe, clip, and an easy keeper. He gets along with every horse and person he meets, and is happy to be in a stall, on the field, in a group, or by himself. He is known by his many fans as Mr. Perfect, and he truly is. This will not be easy for us to see him go, but he will be someone’s horse of a life time. Located in Idaho.

Excel Star Darcy. Photo via Sport Horse Nation.

Excel Star Darcy

Excel Star Darcy: 2014 16.2h bay Irish Sport Horse gelding. By Classe VDL out of Danzig Lady.

This 6-year-old comes to us at Excel Star Sport Horses already proving himself in the jumper ring to 1.20m. He’s the rare horse that already has enough miles, but not too many, to prove his excellent disposition and athletic ability. He’s shown consistently in the 1.20m and has cross country schooled, and is ready to go out eventing or show jumping. You would be hard pressed to find a horse as quiet and uncomplicated as Darcy. He ready to do the job easily and happily. Located in South Carolina.

West of Ireland. Photo via Sport Horse Nation.

2016 TB Upper Level Prospect

West of Ireland aka Winston is a 2016 thoroughbred gelding, standing 16.1+. Retired sound in July 2019 after only two starts under his breeders silks. By Gio Ponti out a War Chant mare, he is extremely irish bred, and his bone and hooves show it. Winston began his journey as a sport horse at the end of July, and has exceeded all expectations. Balanced, soft, and lovely to flat, he is schooling all lateral work and is capable beyond his age. A rhythmic, cadenced, adjustable canter leads to a brilliant scopey jump from just about any spot. Solidly schooling novice, and is entered in his first recognized event in July (after his intended first event was cancelled in March). Loads, hauls, clips, you name it – he does it well.

This is the type of horse that the competent teenager dreams of, while being talented enough for the professional who wants something with a brain. Perfect home is a must; would love to see someone win the YEH 4yo championships and then cruise up the levels. Clean set of radiographs on file to serious inquiries. Located in Kentucky.

Tuesday News & Notes from Legends Horse Feeds

“For too long, the horse show world has chosen to ignore the extreme social injustice embedded in American policy and tradition. We are an insular community with a gross amount of wealth and white privilege, and thus we choose the path of ignorance.”

If you read nothing else today, read this story from The Chronicle. Then read Tilly’s News and Notes from yesterday. I would like to echo Tilly’s aim to keep Eventing Nation a safe space for horse enthusiasts of any color. Our sport is not immune from these injustices that we see every day, but we can work together to create a more equitable space.

USEA Extends Qualification Period for 2020 AEC

Julia Spatt & 501 Macintosh. Photo by Leslie Wylie.

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) has extended the qualification period for the 2020 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds.

The original qualification period of May 27, 2019 – August 18, 2020 has now been stretched to include results as far back as March 1, 2019 in consideration of those whose spring season was affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. The new qualification window is March 1, 2019 – August 18, 2020.

The AEC Organizing Committee and the USEA Board of Governors decided on this modification after considering data from last year’s championships.

“The data showed that there are currently more riders and horses qualified for the AEC for 2020 than there were at this time last year for the 2019 AEC,” explained USEA CEO Rob Burk. Currently, over 2,200 riders and 2,500 horses are already qualified to compete.

“However, the USEA still wanted to be sympathetic to the members who lost part of their 2020 competition season, and extend the qualification period back to March 1, 2019 to compensate for the time that was lost from 2020.”

The 2020 AEC will take place August 25-30, 2020 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. The USEA is working diligently to provide a safe competition environment. To read more about their COVID-19 resources, click here.

Talented Imported Gelding

R. H. S Caspar Conthargos, 2014 Imported Oldenburg gelding. 16.3hh. Recent radiographs available.

This dark bay son of Conthargos has that star quality. He is a beautiful package of movement, jump, looks, and a sweet and snuggly disposition. Schooling cross country well, and ready to compete as soon as we are able.

He has three outstanding paces, highlighted by his naturally powerful and springy way of moving. He is proving to have an excellent and consistent style over the fence that will catch anyone’s eye.

Sire Conthargos at the age of four, won the Deister Champions with a 9.5 and, in 2009, effortlessly qualified for the German Champions. His offspring have easily dominated all show jumping events.

Dam sire Eurocommerce Berlin himself was a World Equestrian Games, and European Championships Gold Medalist, as well as a winner of multiple Grand Prixs. Caspar Conthargos’ mother has already produced a 1.60 m show jumper.

With his endless scope, sweet temperament, and with the right training, the future is bright for this top quality youngster. Located in Idaho.

Safe and Experienced Eventing Horse

“Apollo” (Cuervo Gold) is a 16 year old 16.2 hand TB Gelding. He has taken his current rider from a beginner, with little to no experience, to training in just 3 years. Apollo is bold, and will jump anything you put in front of him. He has an unblemished cross country record. Apollo is a great confidence giver in all 3 phases for all levels of riding. He consistently places in ribbons at shows including Ocala, Florida. He loves to go trail riding. Apollo is ready to show a new rider the ropes of competition in a safe and fun way! Located in Georgia.

We expect her to go far in eventing and she’d make a great match for someone looking to bring along a quality young horse. She’s suitable for a junior, young rider or adult amateur, but talented enough for a professional. Located in South Carolina.

That’s the Stuff. Photo via Sport Horse Nation.

Preliminary Level Eventer *Price Reduced*

That’s the Stuff is a 2010 16.3h OTTB gelding who is competing at the preliminary level and qualified for a CCI2*-S. Russell is a bold, athletic OTTB who has shown promise in all three phases, but is still working to put all three phases together consistently. With that being said, he is very personable in the barn and a real blast to ride xc! He loves being an event horse. I’m looking for the right match for him. Price reduced because the girl who was part-leasing him has a new ride, and I have more horses due to arrive. Located in Florida.

Virginia Horse Trials Rescheduled to July 21-24

Virginia Horse Trials. Photo by Andy Bowles.

A favorite in Area II, the Virginia Horse Trials (VHT) has been approved for a rescheduled date of July 21-24, 2020. Originally postponed due to COVID-19, VHT has moved to a midweek competition to reduce impact on existing events.

VHT Organizer Andy Bowels confirmed that the event intends to run the same levels from the May event, which includes Starter through Intermediate horse trials plus CCI*-L, CCI2*-S, CCI2*-L, and CCI3*-S. Held Thursday-Friday, national classes will run as either one- or two-day competitions at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia.

“One of our main goals for rescheduling is to make sure competitors requiring qualifications will have the opportunity to obtain them. We have also opted to run midweek in order to reduce the impact on other weekend events,” said Andy.

“We are trying to make the most of a frustrating situation for competitors and organizers around the country. Many events are attempting to reschedule, and competitors are very anxious to get back on course. I would like to thank the Virginia Horse Center for working us into their very busy schedule.”

The Virginia Horse Center is prepared to implement a number of changes to ensure the safety of competitors. Changes include online entries and “low density stabling.” Horse inspections will be held in an open space with social distancing being enforced. The competitor party and awards ceremonies have been cancelled. full details of the COVID-19 safety plan will be available on the VHT website prior to the event.

“Some things will be different, but what has not changed is our dedication to running a quality event. The high standards competitors have come to expect from VHT will be upheld,” Andy said. “We hope to see many familiar faces at VHT in July and hope all our friends have been safe during this uncertain time. Hopefully our announcement today gives them something to look forward to.”

This date changes only reflects VHT Spring 2020 dates. The November Virginia Horse Trials remains scheduled for October 29-November 1, 2020, and VHT’s standard Memorial Day date will resume in 2021.

Schedule, Revamped: USEA Releases Updated 2020 Calendar

Mara DePuy and Congo Brazzaville C. Photo by Shelby Allen.

Since COVID-19 brought the eventing calendar as we know it to a standstill, a meeting of the minds has been taking place nonstop to piece together the rest of the year thanks to the efforts of the USEA Competitions, Calendar and Rules Committees, USEA Areas and the USEF Eventing Sport Committee.

Of the 259 recognized events on the 2020 calendar, 82 were impacted by COVID-19. So far 23 of those events have received rescheduled dates, and five new events have been added to the calendar. All rescheduled dates for events who put in requests have now been allocated. The calendar could continue to morph, so continue to refer to the USEA Competition Calendar for the most up-to-date information.

It should never be a question of should you ride, only a question of how long it's going to take you to get to the barn. That spiral of insecurity can happen so fast, leaving you feeling a little lost and preeeeetty tired 😴 Lucky for me I got caught before it was too late and had a bowl of Mac n Cheese and an amazing #horsehubby waiting for me when I finally made it home. 💖 It's #sunsoutgunsout season and your horse doesn't care if your breeches are a little tight cowgirl 🦄🥰 #justride . . . #brantley #againsttheodds #teardropwinken #aqhaproud #eventerwannabe #eventingnation #goeventing #teamqh #sayiwont #weride #controlhaltdelete #eventerproblems #bodyimage #mentalhealth #youvegotthis

We built a faux-ditch! Daisy was a no-nonsense supervisor and kept us on track! Beginner novice sized and we will put black mulch in it tomorrow after the paint has had some time to dry. We decided to paint it so that even if the mulch is sparse or washed out, it’ll still be “ditchy”. We originally were going to dig real ditches but I think these will be more versatile and we can move the bigger ones (when we build them) with the tractor, but I can move this little one around the field by myself! Would anyone like to know how we made it? . . . .#eventer #eventersofinstagram #eventhorse #horse #ottb #ottbsofinstagram #horsesofinstagram #equestrian #equestriansofinstagram #dressage #dressagehorse #jumper #showjumping #jumpersofinstagram #eventerproblems

Tuesday Video from Flexible Fit Equestrian USA: Sharon White’s Favorite Grooming Secret

EN, meet “hot towel.” It’s truly as simple as it sounds, but no less powerful. Sharon White picked this one up from Torrance Watkins and it’s her go-to grooming tool.

All you need is a towel, warm water and a few drops of Ivory Soap. This is great for when your horse is a little sweaty but doesn’t need a full hose down or when it’s too cold for a full bath. Use this to battle sweat, mud splatters and more! The bonus is that when you’re finished, pop your brushes in for a quick wash.

2020 AEC Still Scheduled to Run as ‘New Normal’

With less than 100 days to go, the 2020 USEA American Eventing Championships are still expected to run as planned August 25-30 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.

The U.S. Eventing Association and US Equestrian suspension of events will end May 31, 2020, and currently events are expected to be held again starting in June. The USEA in partnership with the Organizing team of Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI) and Mary Fike are working on best practices to make the championships as safe as possible. With these efforts in place, they have urged potential competitors that the 2020 AEC will be a “new normal.”

“We are lucky to have an outstanding organizing team including EEI and Mary Fike and I am incredibly confident in their ability to reduce risk as much as is possible,” said USEA CEO Rob Burk.

“We have already begun planning how we can host the AEC while carefully following local, state, CDC, and WHO guidance. We have studied the USEF COVID-19 Licensed Competition Action Plan and are incorporating it, and we are applying the WHO risk assessment tool to better prepare over the next several months. This AEC is going to be one for the record books, and it will have its own unique feel. The entire team is sensitive to the fact that this needs to be no less special than every other AEC while at the same time implementing new cautionary measures related to COVID-19.”

At present, no alterations have been made to the qualification criteria, but the USEA Board of Governors is evaluating all potential options. The USEA I.T. Department is collecting data to evaluate how many horses and riders may have lost the opportunity to qualify. The standing qualification window is May 27, 2019 – August 18, 2020.

The USEA has confirmed that any changes would be made in the coming weeks.

“Maintaining the safety of the riders and horses remains paramount, followed by ensuring the highest level of competition,” said Rob. “We are analyzing options to maintain a similar size pool of qualified competitors as in previous years. Currently, over 2,200 riders and 2,500 horses are already qualified to compete. The options on the table to alter qualification include, but aren’t limited to, easing placing requirements, allowing those that qualified in 2019 special dispensation, and/or extending the qualifying period earlier in 2019.”

What do you think, EN? Are you planning to attend the 2020 AEC? Let us know in the comments.

Tuesday News & Notes from Legends Horse Feeds

June heralds in the return of equestrian competition and riders are getting creative to ensure safety. Area III Chair Cyndi Kurth passed along an idea from Pat Bunge of Red Roses Farm in Illinois, who drummed up a great way to make sure everyone has enough personal protective gear PLUS a great opportunity for more show swag.

“Bandannas — can be pulled up when not riding, and pulled down when riding.  Events could put their logo or a sponsor logo on for their staff/volunteers. Barns could have their own colors.”

What do you think EN?

On June 1, an Auction Catalog will be available online at www.carolinahorsepark.com, where bidders can learn more about each pony. [Carolina Horse Park]

#EventerProblems Vol. 226, Presented by Haygain: Halt, Salute

We’ve lost count of the weeks and we’re all getting a bit itchy. Do we halt salute at these Xs in the grocery store? Can we wear a shadbelly on our zoom call? These are our completely ludicrous, yet understandable questions, plus more #EventerProblems:

Tuesday Video from Flexible Fit Equestrian USA: Jon Holling Prepares for his #FrangibleNow Tattoo

We are delighted to announce that $218,367 has been raised for the Frangible Technology Fundraiser through the USEA Foundation, the Manton Foundation and the GoFundMe initiative. Now the Manton Foundation has kindly pledged matching donations if we can get to the benchmark of $250,000. In Jon Holling’s update, he explains that they are also expecting another $10,000 donation, so that means we must raise $21,633 before the first horse leaves the start box after quarantine.

The prize of course is increased safety for horses and riders on cross country, but additionally, Jon has said if we can reach this next benchmark that he will get a #FrangibleNow tattoo. Leslie Wylie seems to think this might be a bad idea, but I for one think this will be a flattering addition to his ribcage.

Donations to the USEA Foundation are fully tax-deductible. Donate today by going to https://useafoundation.org/donate and selecting “Frangible Technology Fund” from the dropdown menu.
